Senior Manager Subsea Cable Operations

As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for driving and managing submarine cable infrastructure projects. This includes working with joint build partners, customers, and internal business/commercial teams to plan new subsea cable projects through diverse, secure, and practical routes that meet all stakeholders' needs and where there is customer demand.

Key responsibilities include converting business requirements into detailed engineering specifications by evaluating industry trends, proven state-of-the-art technology, cost optimization, future proofing, optimum fiber pair count, etc. You will also evaluate the optimum cable route through desktop study by engaging with relevant vendors, drive the Invitation to Tender process by capturing Cable owners/Joint Build Partners' requirements, evaluation of bids, adjudication, and selection of vendors based on various metrics of evaluation.

Additionally, you will be responsible for developing and finalizing supply contracts with subsea cable vendors by close coordination with Joint build partners, internal legal teams, and various stakeholders. You will work with submarine cable vendors & partners to drive the implementation of submarine cable systems including design, manufacturing, and installation activities.

Another key responsibility is collaborating with landing service providers, vendors, partners, and various internal teams to ensure purchasers' deliverable items (say permits, cable landing station, fronthaul route, wayleave/lease for the land, etc.) are made ready on or before target timelines, which also includes formulation and execution of agreements from technical aspects.

You will work closely with customers, partners, and suppliers on project implementation activities such as site survey, design/build of CLS, installation, testing, and commissioning of submarine cable and terminal equipment, and follow up regularly to get all activities completed on time.

Ensuring that customers obtain their relevant statutory permits in their respective countries for initial installation with regular follow-up and providing necessary support to them as well as coordination with the supplier is also a critical responsibility. You will own and manage the customer experience and relationship management; this position serves as a subject matter expert and a point of contact for customers and partners on the implementation of subsea cable projects.

Regular review meetings with partners/customers/stakeholders and various vendors/providers will be conducted to discuss performance, issues, and related action items. Travel may be required within the region or other regions to assist at various sites. Good communication skills and ability to multi-task and work independently with minimal supervision in a non-structured environment are essential.

This role requires superior interpersonal skills to work with suppliers, partners, customers, and internal departments for managing the life cycle activities of submarine cable operations. A degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronics, or Telecommunication) and at least 7 to 10 years + relevant experience in submarine cable operations or submarine cable projects are required. Experience in driving submarine cable projects especially on conceptualization, design, vendor selection, contract forming, and Project implementation stages is highly desirable.

A strong track record of handling customer service delivery, assurance, or partnership management, well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to set priorities, recognize basic causes, and recommend problem solutions that meet practical needs of the business, good communication skills (both written and verbal), balanced interpersonal style, self-starter, able to take initiative, and work effectively with employees at all levels are highly valued qualities in this role.
