Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Genetic Counsellor to join our dynamic team in the Division of Medical Oncology, Cancer Genetic Service. As a Cancer Genetics Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing pre and post genetic testing counselling for patients referred for hereditary cancer syndromes.
Key Responsibilities
- Counselling and Case Management
- Assess family history to identify possible hereditary syndromes and provide advice on cancer risks
- Explain hereditary conditions and subsequent risk management during pre-counselling
- Provide result interpretation and risk management recommendations, arranging referrals to sub-specialties as needed
- Communication and Education
- Document patient visits, communication, tests, and results efficiently
- Collate and organise written, verbal communication, counselling details, and genetic testing results in reports for Consultants
- Provide genetic education and supervision for genetic trainees and medical professionals
- Research and Quality Improvement
- Participate in research projects related to cancer genetics, including quantitative or qualitative research
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and service delivery
Requirements and Qualifications
- Masters degree in Genetic Counselling or equivalent
- Experience working in a cancer genetics service preferred
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a team
- Demonstrate evidence-based decisiveness and empathy-driven counselling techniques
Salary: SGD $80,000 - $110,000 per annum
