Senior Data Engineer - Innovation Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to drive innovation in data engineering and lead our efforts in delivering cutting-edge solutions. This role requires a strong technical background in data processing frameworks, streaming technologies, and data virtualization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement batch and streaming data ingestion pipelines from diverse sources, utilizing industry-leading tools and technologies.
  • Develop real-time and near-real-time data workflows using Apache Flink, Kafka Streams, and other emerging technologies.
  • Optimize performance for high-volume and high-velocity datasets, ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Implement data quality checks and automatic monitoring systems to ensure consistently accurate and available data.
  • Design and manage storage solutions such as Microsoft Fabric, Delta Lake, and Databricks, leveraging cloud-based services for scalability and reliability.
  • Design and implement data virtualization layers to centralize visibility and control of data across diverse sources, enhancing business agility and decision-making capabilities.
  • Apply best practices for schema design, partitioning, and data lifecycle management, ensuring data consistency and integrity throughout the organization.
  • Support data discovery and cataloguing in coordination with governance tools, promoting transparency and accountability in data operations.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business users to understand data needs and translate them into technical solutions, driving business value through data-driven insights.
  • Partner with DevSecOps and platform engineers to automate deployment and orchestration of data pipelines, streamlining operations and reducing manual intervention.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data engineering, with a proven track record of delivering complex data projects.
  • At least 1 year in a leadership or senior technical role, driving data engineering initiatives and leading cross-functional teams.
  • Deep expertise in Spark, Databricks, and data processing frameworks, with a strong understanding of cloud-based services and big data analytics.
  • Strong knowledge of streaming technologies, including Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and Azure Event Hub, with experience in designing and implementing real-time data pipelines.
  • Experience working with data lake and/or lakehouse architectures, such as Hadoop, Delta Lake, Iceberg, and Microsoft OneLake, with a focus on data governance and compliance.
  • Familiarity with data virtualization tools and architectures, involving diverse sources and data formats, with a strong understanding of data integration and ETL processes.
  • Proficient in Python and SQL, with experience in developing scalable and efficient data pipelines and data warehouses.
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools, such as Apache Airflow, and CI/CD principles, with a focus on automation and continuous improvement.
