About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Naval Architect to join our team at ABS Consulting (S) Pte Ltd. This is a full-time position based in Singapore.

Job Description

In this role, you will perform detailed engineering review of plans as assigned for compliance with applicable Rules, Regulations, and contract commitments. You will work on conventional engineering practices but may involve moderately complex problems such as resolving conflicting design requirements, material standards or coordination of activities among other disciplines.

You will also be responsible for drafting technically accurate and timely reports, and responses to client letters, faxes, and other forms of communication for review by an experienced engineer or engineering manager.

Other responsibilities include preparing accurate and timely weekly reports and billing on all work performed, communicating the status of the current workload to all appropriate members of the team, and proposing technical advice to field operations and other technical offices.

You may also propose new approaches to problems encountered and make recommendations for changes in methods, procedures, or designs.

This role requires strong problem-solving skills, the ability to identify and analyze complex problems, and propose solutions. You should have a good command of the English language and be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

The ideal candidate will have a B.S. degree in Civil, Structural Engineering, Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering, or other related disciplines; an M.S. may be preferred. Demonstrated computer literacy in engineering software, exposed to the Finite Element Method (coursework or supervised research), and five years or more of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or classification society are required.

A professional or chartered engineer license and four years or more of related engineering experience in a shipyard, design/consulting office, shipping/oil company, or classification society may also be considered.
