Job Title: English Teacher, Secondary

This role is ideal for an individual who has a passion for teaching English as a subject to secondary school students.

Job Description

As an English teacher, you will be responsible for creating a positive and productive learning environment that encourages students to reach their full potential. You will plan, prepare and deliver engaging lessons to students of various skill levels, tailoring your approach to meet the diverse needs of your class.

You will use a range of teaching methods, including lectures, discussions, group work and practical activities, to help students understand and appreciate the complexities of the English language. You will also provide feedback and guidance to students on their written and spoken work, helping them to improve their skills and build confidence in their abilities.

In addition to teaching, you may be required to participate in departmental meetings, contribute to the development of curriculum materials, and collaborate with other teachers to plan and implement educational programs.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the English curriculum, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to motivate and inspire students. They will also be able to adapt to changing circumstances, prioritize tasks effectively and maintain accurate records.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A bachelor's degree in English or a related field;
  • A valid teaching certification from a recognized institution or authority;
  • 3+ years of experience in teaching English as a subject;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Familiarity with curriculum design and implementation;
