The role of the ICT Education Specialist is multifaceted and requires a candidate with exceptional teaching, organisational and interpersonal skills.
">- To develop and implement curriculum plans that cater to the diverse needs of students, helping them build confidence, proficiency and a love for learning in A Level ICT subjects and IGCSE subjects. The successful candidate will also be responsible for teaching middle years students.
- Supporting students to build critical and creative thinking skills through inquiry-based learning, observation and experimentation techniques. Students are encouraged to explore concepts, identify problems and find innovative solutions.
- Preparing detailed reports on student progress, including parent conferences and references for further education or employment opportunities. Student records and documentation are maintained meticulously.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation of each student's learning and progress, providing valuable insights for teachers, parents and guardians.
- Conducting effective parent conferences, including preparing comprehensive assessments of a student's development and providing relevant examples of their learning activities.
- Engaging with co-teachers through collaboration and discussion of individual students' needs and daily curriculum planning, pastoral care and wider school life.
- Interacting with students using a positive, supportive, respectful and open-minded attitude, language and tone, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.
- Ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times, whether on-site or during off-site activities, adhering to the school's code of conduct.
- Supporting students' social and emotional growth, encouraging empathy, self-awareness and self-regulation skills.
- Fostering opportunities for parents to participate in classroom experiences, enhancing student engagement and academic success.
- Recognising the importance of being a role model for young people, maintaining high standards of personal conduct and behaviour.
- Preparing assessments, mock exams and coursework according to the syllabus and school assessment calendar, ensuring timely completion and submission.
- Attending staff meetings, team meetings and other meetings as required, contributing actively to discussions and decision-making processes.
- Maintaining regular attendance and punctuality, adhering to the school's policies and procedures.
- Communicating effectively with parents (written and verbal) on an ongoing basis, providing updates on student progress and addressing concerns.
- Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with coworkers, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Contributing to the development of a positive and inclusive community among staff, promoting open communication and constructive feedback.
- Embracing continuous professional development, attending workshops, training sessions and internal events, and engaging constructively in systems of appraisal and development.
- Performing other duties as necessary and assigned by the Senior Leadership Team to ensure programme compliance and quality services to children and parents.
- Working within the policies and procedures of the school, adhering to safeguarding and child protection protocols.
- Carrying out supervisory duties and cover as required, ensuring the safety and well-being of students at all times.
- Arriving promptly at lessons, tutor sessions and dismissing students at the correct times, adhering to the school's timetables and schedules.
- Checking student attendance and following up on absences as appropriate, liaising with colleagues on matters of concern relating to individual students.
- Writing and following departmental syllabuses and schemes of work for each teaching group, based on the relevant year group curriculum.
- Preparing lesson materials and marking students' work consistently with Cambridge, departmental and school assessment policy.
- Setting and marking home learning activities in accordance with departmental and school policy, having high expectations of individual student performance.
The ideal candidate will possess:
">- Exceptional teaching skills and experience in ICT education, preferably at A Level and IGCSE levels.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
