Procurement Specialist Job Description

Our company is seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing and evaluating suppliers for construction materials and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sourcing and Evaluation: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers of construction materials and services, ensuring they meet our quality and pricing standards.
  • Quotation Management: Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and quality.
  • Contract Negotiation: Negotiate contracts, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to secure the best possible deals.
  • Purchase Order Management: Prepare and issue purchase orders and track order statuses to ensure timely delivery.
  • Inventory Management: Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with site supervisors to determine material requirements.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Communication: Liaise with project managers, quantity surveyors, and warehouse teams to support project timelines.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Proven experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge: Good knowledge of building materials, suppliers, and construction project cycles.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and communication skills to effectively work with suppliers.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and procurement software.
  • Independence: Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines.
  • Education: Diploma in Procurement, Business, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
  • Language Skills: Familiarity with purchasing materials through Taobao and other online platforms.

Preferred:

  • Language Skills: Ability to communicate in both English and Mandarin to liaise with Chinese-speaking suppliers.
