Job Summary

As a Digital News Editor, APAC at NBCUniversal, you will be responsible for overseeing the editorial team and ensuring the timely publication of high-quality news stories. Your role will involve breaking, assigning, editing, and writing news stories throughout Asia's business day.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Deputy Managing Editor in leading and managing a team of journalists, providing guidance and mentorship to ensure the team's success.
  • Act as the hot-seat for managing and updating site content with strong editorial judgment and knowledge of business and financial news, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Craft breaking news headlines quickly and accurately for mobile notifications, utilizing your expertise in financial markets and economics.
  • Write breaking news stories with both speed and precision, utilizing your research skills and attention to detail.
  • Occasionally write stories on diverse topics, including financial markets, business trends, economics, and policy, showcasing your versatility and expertise.
  • Perform copy editing for ensuring the highest quality and timely publication of stories, features, video descriptions, and interactive content, maintaining the highest standards of journalism.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly with CNBC teams across various countries and platforms, including TV, to ensure coordinated story coverage and seamless collaboration.
  • Curate website content by selecting relevant stories from wires and partners, utilizing your knowledge of business and financial news.
  • Produce and publish stories using the content management system, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Delegate tasks to team members and coordinate production to keep the website consistently updated, utilizing your leadership skills and expertise.
  • Act as a deputy for senior editors and provide guidance to junior staff, mentoring and developing the next generation of journalists.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of CNBC's digital content using analytics tools, utilizing your analytical skills and attention to detail.
Qualifications
  • Extensive knowledge of CNBC's content and subject material with a strong interest in financial markets, economics, technology, and politics, showcasing your expertise and passion.
  • Ability to meticulously edit copy under tight deadlines, identifying and correcting errors and typos, demonstrating your attention to detail and expertise.
  • Proven experience in updating websites, news editing, or hot-seating at a wire service, showcasing your skills and expertise.
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets and the interplay between different economies and markets, demonstrating your knowledge and expertise.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and stay composed in a fast-paced news environment, showcasing your adaptability and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and across all departments and locations, ensuring the website operates smoothly and accurately, demonstrating your teamwork and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, combined with strong research and succinct writing skills, showcasing your expertise and passion.
  • Demonstrated self-starter, with the confidence to make quick decisions in a fast-paced news environment, demonstrating your leadership skills and expertise.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, especially X, showcasing your adaptability and expertise.
  • Fluency in English language, demonstrating your language skills and expertise.
  • Flexible and willing to occasionally work different shifts when required, which some starts very early in the morning or on weekends, showcasing your adaptability and willingness to go above and beyond.
