Maintenance Supervisor Job Description

The Maintenance Supervisor is a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of facilities and equipment. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in mechanical or electrical engineering, as well as excellent leadership and communication skills.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Inspecting facilities periodically to determine problems and necessary maintenance
  • Preparing weekly maintenance schedules and allocating work
  • Overseeing the preventive and corrective maintenance of equipment, facilities, machines, and tools to ensure they are safe, reliable, and efficient
  • Scheduling and assigning work to maintenance technicians based on priority, skill level, and workload
  • Evaluating the performance of maintenance technicians, identifying areas for improvement, and providing feedback to enhance their skills and knowledge
  • Developing and implementing maintenance procedures, protocols, and policies to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards
  • Managing spare parts inventory, vendor contracts, and supplier relationships to ensure timely and cost-effective replacement of worn-out parts and equipment
  • Collaborating with other departments, including engineering, production, and quality control, to identify and resolve maintenance-related issues that impact plant productivity and efficiency
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment history, and repair costs to identify trends, track performance, and forecast future maintenance needs
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including environmental, health & safety, and labor laws

A bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering, or a related field, is required. At least 3 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing or industrial environment is preferred. Proficiency in maintenance management software, computer systems, and MS Office applications is also essential.
