Researcher in Fire Resilient Battery Rooms

The role is to lead a research project focused on designing fire resilient battery rooms for next-gen electric harbours.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Manage the research project with the Principal Investigator (PI), Co-PI, and team to ensure all deliverables are met.
  • Supervise final year projects or capstone projects under the PI.
  • Conduct computational simulations and experimental studies within project timelines.
  • Draft reports, conference papers, and journal articles based on project outcomes.
  • Share fortnightly reports on computational results.
  • Perform Risk Assessments and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Coordinate procurement and liaise with vendors/suppliers.
Required Skills:
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Marine and Offshore Engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of battery fire simulation is highly advantageous.
  • Hands-on experience with experimental studies.
  • Familiarity with CFD applications on high-performance computing clusters is beneficial.
  • Extensive experience in CFD, especially in battery fire combustion and spread.
  • Skills in turbulence modeling and CFD mesh generation for complex 3D geometries.
  • Proficiency in handling large datasets and analyzing results.
  • Experience with commercial CFD software such as ANSYS (preferably FLUENT) and FDS, including meshing and post-processing tools.
