Job Title: Engineering - Material Management Associate (Purchasing)

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Material Management Associate to join our team at Singapore Airlines. As a key member of our Material Management Department, you will be responsible for handling duties related to Purchasing, ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process outstanding purchase requisitions in SAP, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Source for most competitive pricing and availability, leveraging your knowledge of the market and vendor relationships.
  • Challenge vendors on price escalation beyond Purchase and Sale Agreement (PSAA), Supplier Support Conditions (SSC) or Buyer Furnished Equipment (BFE) contracts, ensuring the best possible terms for the company.
  • Place orders to ensure spares availability via timely routine purchasing, minimizing stockouts and overstocking.
  • Evaluate chemicals, bulk materials, change kits, and spares inventory levels, consumption, and reorder lead-time for optimum inventory stock levels, ensuring just-in-time delivery.
  • Track progress for delivery of spares in accordance with listed lead time and ensure completion of purchase orders, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Liaise with vendors to ensure delivery schedules meet operational requirements and after-sales support, building strong relationships and resolving any issues promptly.
  • Ensure discrepancy reports arising from delivery of spares are investigated and resolved, maintaining high-quality standards and customer satisfaction.
  • Review outstanding price variance to prevent holding up invoice payment, ensuring timely and accurate payment processing.
  • Prevent aging price variance by constant monitoring, maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Ensure availability of spares to prevent any task card withdrawals, maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
  • Review spares periodically for task card requirements, ensuring accurate and timely ordering.
  • Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) testing, ensuring seamless integration and quality assurance.

    Requirements:

    • Possess a Diploma, preferably in Engineering, with a strong understanding of material management principles and practices.
    • Must be familiar with SAP, including SQ01, MB51, and MMBE, with the ability to use these systems effectively.
    • Proficient in MS Office suite of products, especially Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to use pivot tables for trending and analysis and to prepare high-quality presentations.
    • Support in commercial negotiation for fixed price, leveraging your knowledge of the market and vendor relationships.
    • Knowledge and relevant experience of Material Management's operations, administration, and procedures would be preferred, with a strong understanding of industry best practices.
    • Able to engage directly with vendors and line engineers on the shop floor, building strong relationships and resolving any issues promptly.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Motivated and driven, with a strong work ethic and ability to work under pressure.
    • Team player and also be able to work independently, with a strong sense of accountability and responsibility.
    • Able to work under pressure, with a strong ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
    • Able to work on shift, with a strong ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
