Safety and Risk Management Professional

Join our Safety Team in the Singapore Refinery to contribute to a sustainable future. We are looking for a skilled professional to support the Safety Engineer in operational safety, workplace safety and occupational health and safety.

This role involves working closely with Engineers, Supervisors and front-line personnel in Singapore and the Corporate Safety Team in Finland. You will provide expertise to our Refinery on matters of operational safety, including:

  • Operation Safety, workplace risk management, safety leadership, emergency response and crisis management
  • Workplace Safety, managing workplace safety & health environment committee, contractor safety, physical security, turnaround and shutdown events and duties of Fire Safety Manager
  • Occupational Health & Safety, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Respirator Protection, Ergonomic Safety, Hearing Conservation, Heat Stress, Medical Surveillance

You will be responsible for supporting the team in safety-related tasks and achieving our common goals. In this role, you will work on:

  • Developing and implementing security procedures, countermeasures, awareness
  • Performing Security Risk Assessment to ensure compliance and impact needs
  • Managing onsite security manpower, contracts and performance of the security team
  • Interfacing with external vendors, Maintenance and Facility Functions to ensure minimum physical security functions are available
  • Leading Turnaround Events and ensuring improvements, lessons learned from Turnaround are implemented for learning, improvement to strengthen Turnaround Safety Plans, processes and cultures
  • Ensuring Neste Corporate Principle, Standard and applicable Workplace Safety, Operational Safety and Occupational Health & Safety regulations are executed with clarity, to the level of expectation, compliance and requirements across internal and external stakeholders
  • Reducing workplace risk, hazardous substances including petroleum and flammable materials, machinery and equipment risk through implementation of risk management and control measures
  • Supporting emergency and crisis management, incident management, pandemic plans to ensure continuous refinery operation and fulfilment of KPIs
  • Managing contractors and employees safety wellbeing
  • Executing contractor safety induction course training topics, material and conduct contractor SIC training to the refinery
  • Performing the duties and role of Fire Safety Manager in accordance to regulatory requirement and best practices
  • Assurance of fire safety licenses, permits application and issuance to ensure continual operation

To succeed in this role, you should have:

  • 5 to 7 years of working experience in driving operational safety in a chemical or refining work environment
  • Experience in development and operationalisation of workplace safety program
  • Solution provider to safety challenges, good in writing safety standards and procedures
  • Familiar with local WSH regulations and have experience dealing with local regulators such as MHD, MOM, NEA, SCDF, etc.
  • Minimum WSQ Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety and Health. Bachelor degree in chemical / process / process safety engineering field will be an added advantage.
