AVP VP Direct Investments Group Private Equity Japan Focus

GIC is a global investment firm with a strong presence in the private equity market. Our Direct Investments Group is responsible for sourcing and investing directly in companies in minority private equity, growth capital, buyouts, and structured capital transactions. We are looking for a skilled investment professional to join our team in Singapore to focus on investments in Developed Asia, with a primary focus on Japan.
The successful candidate will be part of our Direct Investments Group based in Singapore and will report to the Head, Direct Investments Group (Developed & South East Asia). Key responsibilities will include evaluating private investments, monitoring and divesting portfolio companies, and assisting in the review and execution of attractive investment opportunities. The candidate will also be involved in due diligence processes, pricing, deal structuring, negotiations, and legal workstreams.
Requirements for the role include good academic qualifications, at least 2-3 years of work experience in a top-tier investment bank or PE fund, strong commercial judgement and experience in deal execution, diligence, and closing in direct investments. The candidate should also have the ability to oversee and work with various counterparties, including internal teams, external advisors, and portfolio companies. Strong written and communication skills, good organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in deal teams are also essential. Experience and/or interest in working on deals in Japan is highly desirable, and business-level fluency in Japanese is a requirement.
