Job Summary:

The Fleet Superintendent is a critical role within V ASIA GROUP PTE. LTD., responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels. This position requires a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead a team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety: Ensure the constant safe operation of vessels, taking necessary decisions to protect the environment and crew.
  • Customer: Deliver technical management services to customers, ensuring they benefit from the operational performance of their ships.
  • Ownership: Manage vessels to the highest safety standards, effectively and efficiently providing management services under the Management Agreement and VMS.
  • Leadership: Authorize senior officer selections, build relationships with senior ship colleagues, and conduct performance appraisals.
  • PMS: Ensure job descriptions and maintenance intervals are accurate, and repairs history is correctly recorded in ShipSure.
  • Client: Serve as the first contact point for assigned vessels, providing timely and accurate reports to clients.
  • Monitoring: Monitor vessel performance trends, implement remedial actions, and ensure economical operation.
  • Reporting Issues: Report any issues affecting safety, environmental, or operational performance in a timely manner.
  • Planning: Plan dry dock, vacation, and ships' inspections with the Fleet Manager to ensure consistent service delivery.
  • Quality: Prepare vessels for inspection/audit, report deficiencies, and ensure all third-party inspections are passed.
  • Reporting: Advocate for ShipSure, ensure its proper utilization, and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Finance: Coordinate information for the preparation of vessels' running cost budget, maintain strict control of expenditure, and ensure no out-of-budget spending without prior consent.

Requirements:

  • Recognized engineering or naval architecture qualification and/or relevant experience at sea.
  • Good communication and English language skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with people at all levels.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • An ability to develop creative and effective solutions to problems.
