Marine Engine Plating Professional

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Marine Engine Plating Specialist to join our team of experts in marine diesel engine servicing.

The successful candidate will be responsible for restoring and reinforcing piston ring grooves and other critical components using hard chrome plating techniques, ensuring performance and durability in marine diesel engines ranging from small to large bore sizes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform high-quality hard chrome plating operations on marine diesel engine components, particularly piston ring grooves.
  • Restore worn-out or damaged grooves to OEM specifications using precision machining and plating techniques.
  • Operate and maintain chrome plating tanks, anodes, and related chemical processes in compliance with industry safety and quality standards.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to determine plating requirements and tolerances.
  • Carry out pre-treatment and post-treatment procedures such as degreasing, masking, grinding, and polishing.
  • Inspect components for cracks, corrosion, or dimensional deviation before and after plating.
  • Ensure consistent plating thickness and adhesion quality using specialized instruments.
  • Collaborate with engineering and machining teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical plating issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of plating processes, inspection records, and quality reports.
Requirements:
  • Proven 3-5 years experience in hard chrome plating, preferably in the marine, aerospace, or heavy machinery sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of electroplating principles, chemicals, and safety standards.
  • Familiarity with marine diesel engine components and their functions (e.g., pistons, liners, grooves).
  • Ability to operate precision tools and measuring instruments (micrometers, gauges, etc.).
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, defect-free finishes.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
