Job Description:

As a Materials Sourcing Specialist at PEAK OCEAN PTE. LTD., you will play a crucial role in ensuring the procurement of high-quality materials and services for our operations. Your expertise in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials will be instrumental in achieving our objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate technical proposals based on engineering specifications to ensure compliance with industry standards;
  • Negotiate with suppliers to obtain optimal pricing, delivery, and favorable terms and conditions;
  • Source and procure materials and services from identified sources, both locally and internationally;
  • Advise requestors on supplier selection and purchase terms and conditions;
  • Monitor and follow up on delivery of goods and services, as well as expedite with suppliers as necessary;
  • Review supplier performance on price and delivery, and coordinate with suppliers and QA/QC on quality issues;
  • Compile purchasing statistics and reports on assigned materials/commodities, as required;
  • Liaise with Finance/Account staff on vendor credit applications, bank and financial instruments;
  • Liaise with other departments on procurement matters, as necessary;
  • Participate in vendor qualification and assessment processes in accordance with ISO procedures;
  • Conduct due diligence on identified sources and facilitate their pre-qualification;
  • Monitor and proactively address market trends for raw materials;
  • Prepare bidder lists and releases requests for quotations;
  • Prepare bid tabs and analytically evaluate proposals based on commercial and technical requirements;
  • Maintain strong business relationships with suppliers;
  • Anticipate and proactively resolve potential challenges/problems;
  • Engage in problem-solving and maintain integrity of electronic files;
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies and procedures, as well as the Code of Business Ethics and Conduct;
  • Provide administrative support to the procurement team, including handling RFQs, PRs, and POs;
  • Generate weekly reports on PRs and POs; and
  • Fax confirmed signed POs to vendors, update records, and file relevant documents.

Requirements:

  • Diploma in Purchasing Management, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering, or equivalent;
  • Good experience in buying different types of piping and steel materials;
  • Able to work independently, meticulously, and analytically with excellent problem-solving skills;
  • Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills;
  • Good knowledge of financial and legal terms;
  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and make informed decisions;
  • Able to communicate effectively with stakeholders, both verbally and in writing;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines;
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively;
  • Knowledge of inventory management principles and practices;
  • Ability to travel locally and internationally, as required;
  • Fluency in English language, both spoken and written;
  • Passion for delivering results and exceeding expectations;
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to company policies and procedures.
