Windows and Linux Engineer

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and versatile Windows and Linux Engineer to join our IT team. As a Windows and Linux Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing our mixed IT environment. Your expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the stability, performance, and security of our Windows and Linux systems, enabling efficient operations and data integrity.

Responsibilities:

1. System Administration:
- Configure, manage, and maintain Windows and Linux servers, ensuring their reliability and performance.
- Administer user accounts, access controls, and permissions in both environments.

2. Infrastructure Optimization:
- Monitor and enhance the performance of Windows and Linux servers, applying tuning and optimization techniques.
- Identify and address system vulnerabilities and bottlenecks.

3. Security Management:
- Implement security measures to protect Windows and Linux systems from external threats and unauthorized access.
- Maintain up-to-date security patches, antivirus solutions, and firewall configurations.

4. Troubleshooting and Support:
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues, providing prompt support for both Windows and Linux platforms.
- Collaborate with teams to address user problems and system incidents.

5. Scripting and Automation:
- Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools to streamline repetitive tasks and system management in both Windows and Linux environments.
- Optimize system deployment, updates, and patch management.

6. Backup and Recovery:
- Implement and manage backup and disaster recovery solutions for both Windows and Linux systems.
- Create and test recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss.

7. Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain detailed documentation of configurations, procedures, and system changes for Windows and Linux environments.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

8. Change Management:
- Coordinate and manage changes to the Windows and Linux infrastructure, adhering to change control processes.
- Test and validate system changes before production deployment.

9. Collaboration and Teamwork:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, IT colleagues, and external vendors to support company projects and initiatives.
- Share knowledge and best practices with team members.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience in Windows and Linux system administration and management.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Linux distributions, and virtualization technologies.
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively within the IT department.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Relevant certifications such as MCSE, RHCE, or equivalent are a plus.
