About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a new role at Swiss Re. The Client Underwriter will combine analytical and underwriting skills to select top clients and building a portfolio that outperforms the market benchmark.

The team's mandate is broadening, and we aim to add a technically strong candidate supporting us with portfolio steering and technical underwriting initiatives. The ideal candidate is equipped with a solid underwriting background and has already made first experiences in client management or is highly motivated to develop client management skills.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • End-to-end underwriting analyses of core treaty business including risk selection, costing including natural perils, contracts review and structuring incorporating and improving relevant technology to make informed decisions
  • Grow the business by developing traditional, structured or Solutions opportunities in the portfolio in collaboration with relevant specialists and driving toward the principle of 'right service right client
  • Anticipate and understand competitor products as well as industry, economic and market trends
  • Collaborating with Product Underwriters on the evaluation of treaties, decisive actions within your assigned treaties to meet standards and guidelines
  • With a strong focus on Property, supporting the Market Head and Team Leads in portfolio steering, transformational underwriting initiatives and underwriting excellence activities to achieve best-in-class treaty business

About You

You have strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and pride yourself on your analytical and organizational skills. You have exceptional communication and client management skills that help you build and develop relationships with clients and brokers.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with proven technical capability in insurance/reinsurance underwriting and portfolio management . Minimum relevant experience to include submission analysis, end to end costing and wording analysis for line of business property, risk & cat, proportional and non-proportional treaties. Underwriting experience in an additional non-life line is a plus.
  • Experience in managing treaty clients and brokers
  • Proficient in the English language, and command of a South-East Asian language is advantageous
  • Proven self-starter who works proactively with internal teams to deliver client solutions

Travel required 20-25%
