The research group led by Associate Professor Liu Xiaogang is seeking a (senior) research assistant or a research fellow. The successful candidate will engage in computational modeling of organic luminescent molecules. The goal is to elucidate their detailed operational mechanisms and to systematically establish molecular design principles for crafting innovative dyes with tailored properties.

The appointed researcher will be an integral part of a collaborative team, maintaining close interaction with experimentalists. Research themes extend to, but are not confined to, the development of novel fluorophores characterized by augmented brightness and photostability, applicable in super-resolution fluorescence imaging and two-photon fluorescence imaging. Further areas of investigation encompass understanding the underlying causes of molecular aggregation phenomena and elucidating the intricate photophysical and chemical mechanisms behind photobleaching and hydrogen bond interactions.

This position is offered for a two-year term with the possibility of extension. The remuneration package is highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications We Require

  • PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or a closely related field
  • Published evidence of scientific contributions
  • Experience with computational modeling

Qualifications We Desire

  • A strong passion for research
  • Experience with ab initio calculations, particularly in DFT and TD-DFT
  • Experience with molecular dynamics
  • Excellent programming skills
  • Good understanding of photochemistry and photophysics
  • Good communication (both speaking and writing) skills and team spirit
