The Role

The successful candidate will teach across the school (Reception to Yr13) and will be responsible for securing the highest standards of student achievement, specific to the subject, through combining first-rate instruction with the effective monitoring and review of pupil progress.

She/he will also be expected to play a full and active role in the further development of a thriving music & performing arts culture at The Winstedt School through our co-curricular activities and music programmes.

Curriculum

  • To deliver a broad, balanced and relevant curriculum and contribute to the preparation and writing of schemes of work, teaching materials, teaching programmes, methods of teaching and assessment.
  • To facilitate and encourage high quality learning which provides children with the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
  • To deliver well-planned, engaging and creative lessons, ensuring that the needs of all students are met.
  • To differentiate appropriately, using approaches that enable every student to access the learning and make excellent progress from their start point.
  • To demonstrate excellent subject knowledge in all relevant areas.
  • To set students challenging learning and developmental goals, and to draw upon varied strategies, resources and technologies to support pupils in achieving these goals.
  • To follow school procedures for assessing, recording and reporting on students' achievements and to use this information effectively to convey progress in report writing and record keeping.
  • To provide students with regular written and / or oral feedback and encourage them to reflect and respond to their feedback.
  • To participate fully in the school's co-curricular, elective and performing arts programmes.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree in Music, Performing Arts or a related discipline.
  • Post Graduate Certificate of Education (or equivalent).
  • Qualified Teacher Status.

Desirable

  • Evidence of further post graduate study.

Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Excellent working knowledge of the National Curriculum for England / International curriculums.
  • High levels of subject knowledge.
  • A proven track record of high quality Music teaching.
  • A strong academic background, stature and experience that will command the respect of students, parents, colleagues and the wider community.
  • A commitment to academic progress and the welfare and safeguarding of pupils.
  • Experience of curriculum development in Music.
  • Knowledge and understanding of recent educational developments and best practice.

Desirable

. A minimum of three years of relevant teaching experience.

. Ability to teach a second subject.

. Experience of working with students who learn differently.
