We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Seamstress to join our team. As a Seamstress, you will be responsible for creating, altering, and repairing garments and other textile products. The ideal candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent sewing skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The incumbent would be required to mend, repair, and alter guest clothing and employee uniforms by hand stitching, applying adhesive patches, or using a sewing machine. Distribute clean uniforms to personnel according to company specifications. Send damaged uniforms to appropriate location (e.g., seamstress, Housekeeping, outside vendor) for repair. Document guest requests for laundry/dry cleaning, minor repair, and pressing of garments in accordance with company specifications. Record assigned and unassigned uniforms as they are distributed, returned, or cleaned. Inspect uniforms for damage and remove substandard uniforms from circulation and issue replacements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Perform sewing work including alterations, fittings and repairs of guest clothing, hotel linens and uniforms.
  • Utilize existing uniforms and modify them to suit all new employees
  • Cut, make, repair and alter uniforms Transform discarded items into usable items
  • Sewing curtains, cushions and wall coverings
  • Meet guest requirements
  • Assist with preparations for special events Maintain equipment and keep own work area clean Daily patching of linens and uniforms Create costumes for hotel special events
  • Keep sewing supplies such as thread, buttons, zippers and cloth towels etc.
  • Prepare requisitions for depleted supplies Examine discarded towels from laundry rooms
  • Assist in linen room operations as appropriate Assist with inventory taking
  • Regularly report damage and loss of linens and uniforms to superiors
  • Establish and maintain good employee relations
