Job Description

We are seeking a Research Assistant or Research Associate with managerial experience to lead the Department's Research team. The Research Assistant/ Research Associate will report to the Deputy Research Director and Research Director and is responsible for overseeing the planning, execution and management of all aspects of the Department's projects and ensuring the successful execution of projects within established timelines and budgets. This role will also be responsible for managing a team of researchers, admin staff, and clinical coordinators.

The Research Assistant/ Research Associate is also expected to provide administrative and operational support for the department, co-ordination of events, and collaborations with both internal and external parties.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Responsibilities - Research Administration
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the department's research.
  • Plan, organize, and execute research projects from inception to completion, ensuring that they are conducted within established timelines and budgets.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure project success.
  • Manage agreements, including memorandums of understanding/agreements (MOUs/MOAs), non-disclosure agreements, clinical trial agreement and partnership contracts.
  • Generate reports and summaries of research findings for contribution to research publications and presentations.
  • Prepare and assist in the management and administration of research programmes/projects and preparation of reports required by grantors.
  • Ensure research activities comply with ethical standards and guidelines.
Responsibilities - Research Administration
  • Address any ethical concerns arising during the research process.
  • Disseminate all activities relating to grant calls for assigned programmes, and assist in proposal completeness.
  • Coordinate and facilitate internal reviews and evaluation, when necessary.
  • Liaise with sponsors and handle award notifications and project account creation
  • Process request for project changes.
  • Monitor and facilitate submission of project/programme progress reports.
  • Oversee account creation process.
Responsibilities - Team Leadership
  • Lead a team of admin and clinical research coordinators, providing guidance and support throughout research projects.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the team members, set clear goals and expectations for team members' performance and coordinate and delegate research tasks among team members
  • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.

Additional tasks include

  • Grant Budgeting and Resource Management and Hiring
  • Foster collaborations and networking internally and externally
  • Risk Management and identification of areas of improvement for the department
  • Strategic Research Planning
  • Organize Annual Scientific Meeting
  • Any other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the Deputy/Research Director.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science, Health Administration or other discipline
  • Strong leadership skills, experience in management position
  • Able to multitask, work independently and collaboratively
  • Good written and oral communication skills
