1) Core Discovery Research, Empowering Science: Basic neuroscience research and advanced computational models to understand individual neurocognitive potential, developmental trajectories, and risk and resilience factors;

We are looking for an experienced Research Engineer to work closely with a team of researchers, led by PI - Professor Victoria Leong and co-I - A/Prof Domenico Campolo, and to drive and fulfill research deliverables and milestones within a tight timeline. The postholder is expected to render research support to the research project team and collaborators, on basic and translational projects with a focus on early childhood development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Set up and perform experiments.
  • Prepare support material and technical reports.
  • Conduct equipment checks and perform preventive maintenance when required.
  • Assisting in testing suitable ECG/EEG wearable systems for a more naturalistic experimental set-up (e.g.: at home recordings).
  • Being proactive to resolve problems by examining and evaluating data, performing corrective steps is desired.
  • Designing, upgrading, and maintaining synchronisation systems between different recording modalities in the lab such as audio, video, EEG and ECG.
  • Designing, upgrading, and maintaining of the ECG and EEG preprocessing pipeline for adults and infants.


Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medicine, Computer Science, Engineering (preferably with 2 - 3 years' experience) or Master's Degree.
  • Hands-on experience using equipment and strong knowledge on software for acquiring physiological signals such as EEG, ECG, and Brain Product Software.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience/knowledge in EEG/ECG data collection and processing.
  • Provide support for projects within the lab when following set protocols and procedures.
  • Fluent in verbal and written communication.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment, multitasking and managing tasks proactively.
  • Experience working with human participants, including infants.
  • Experience with video and audio recording, storage, and analysis.
  • Strong knowledge on Matlab, R, Python, or similar programming languages.
  • Hands-on experience with various electrophysiological devices including (but not limited) to EEG and ECG recordings is essential.
  • Proficient in neurophysiological data collection, storage and analysis.
