The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Senior Research Fellow (Laboratory Director). The key job purpose of the Senior Research Fellow (Laboratory Director) for oligonucleotide synthesis and GLP implementation is to oversee and manage all aspects of the laboratory operations related to oligonucleotide synthesis, ensuring the efficient and accurate production of high-quality oligonucleotides. Additionally, the Senior Research Fellow (Laboratory Director) is responsible for implementing and maintaining Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) standards within the laboratory to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and to uphold the integrity of research data. This role involves leading a team of scientists, developing new and optimizing synthesis protocols in oligo modifications and conjugation, managing resources effectively, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation in oligonucleotide synthesis processes. This role aligns with the University's key research pillar of Future Health

Key Responsibilities:
  • Establishment of SOPs for oligo synthesis, purification and conjugation process
  • Analytical method development in accordance to international regulatory guidelines (ICH) for QC test method validation activities.
  • Overseeing GLP implementation (including the quality management system, documentation, SOPs and staff training), and will be responsible to sign off and ensure these GLP processes are followed
  • Innovate new synthesis steps in oligo modification and conjugation.
  • Completion of GLP-ready oligo synthesis integrated with conjugation capability and QMS development


Job Requirements:
  • PhD in organic chemistry and relevant fields with 4 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated track record in cost effective synthesis of simple to complex organic molecules such as peptides, oligonucleotides (DNA, siRNA)
  • Demonstrated track record in capability building of oligosynthesis and purification
