Singapore January Capital Full-time SGD 120,000 - SGD 180,000 Contract

January Capital is a Singapore-headquartered, multi-strategy investment firm operating across Southeast Asia, Australia and the US. We manage more than US$500 million on behalf of leading institutions, corporations, family offices and high-net-worth individuals.

Over the past seven years, we have built our platform by identifying and acting on structural opportunities in Asia-Pacific technology, expanding from venture capital into growth credit. Data informs how we evaluate investments, allocate capital and manage risk. Our portfolio includes Akulaku, ShopBack, Skedulo, Go1, Cyble, Cialfo and Tazapay.

The role

Join the team developing a new investment vehicle spanning private and public assets across the US and Asia Pacific. You will help shape the strategy from inception, with live work across fund structuring, portfolio design, investment sourcing and execution.

This role suits an early-career investor or someone transitioning into investing who wants to learn how a global, multi-asset strategy is built. You will work directly with the Partners and investment team, taking ownership of defined workstreams from your first week.

What you will do

  • Origination and relationship building. Lead sourcing and outreach across companies, brokers, intermediaries and investors in the US and Asia Pacific. Build the target universe, lead initial conversations and develop relationships with key external stakeholders.
  • Investment evaluation and execution. Assess opportunities from initial screening through to investment recommendation. Conduct company and counterparty due diligence, analyse transactions, prepare investment memos and diligence questionnaires, and support execution of the vehicle’s first investments.
  • Fund structuring and modelling. Help design the vehicle through portfolio construction, modelling assumptions for each strategy allocation, analysis of comparable funds, and development of the financial model that guides capital allocation and investment pacing.
  • Research. Develop research that informs the strategy and individual investment decisions, covering fund structures, public and private asset classes, investment theses and comparable vehicles.
  • AI-enabled tools and processes. Work with our data and engineering teams to develop proprietary tools, datasets and workflows that support investment decisions and fund management.

What we are looking for

You are currently enrolled in, or have recently completed, an MBA at a leading business school and have at least three years of prior experience in investment banking, public or private market investing, consulting, or a technology operating role.

Strong candidates will bring:

  • Professional judgement. Experience engaging senior counterparties and the ability to represent the firm with limited supervision.
  • Analytical and communication skills. Clear thinking, rigorous analysis and concise writing, demonstrated through memos, briefs or recommendations used by senior decision-makers.
  • Investment foundations. Familiarity with private market structures and terminology, including a working understanding of secondaries, venture capital and credit.
  • Interest in technology. Curiosity about technology as an investment theme and the ability to develop informed views on unfamiliar companies and markets.
  • Ownership and adaptability. The maturity to work independently in a small investment partnership and deliver results as a new strategy develops and priorities change.
  • Thoughtful use of AI. Curiosity about AI tools and the judgement to use them to improve speed and quality while maintaining analytical rigour.

Pathway to a full-time role

  • This role is intended to offer a pathway to a full-time position for the right candidate.
