Job Summary

We are looking for a visionary and experienced Managing Architect of Data Engineering to lead the strategic design and technical direction of our enterprise Big Data Platform. In this leadership role, you will be responsible for shaping the future of our data infrastructure, ensuring it is scalable, reliable, and capable of supporting our growing analytics and machine learning needs. You will manage a high-performing team of data engineers and architects, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence while collaborating with key stakeholders to align our data strategy with overarching business objectives.

What you will be responsible for:

• Strategic Roadmap: Define and own the long-term technical roadmap for the modernized enterprise big data platform, ensuring alignment with business goals and leveraging AI capabilities.
• Architectural Leadership: Lead the design and governance of robust, scalable, and secure end-to-end data solutions, establishing and enforcing architectural standards.
• Team Development: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of data architects and engineers, fostering growth and innovation.
• Technology Innovation: Evaluate, prototype, and recommend new big data, cloud, and AI tools and frameworks to enhance platform capabilities and optimize costs.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Act as the primary technical advisor for product, engineering, and business leaders, translating complex business requirements into scalable technical designs and collaborating with IT and other components from a data perspective.
• Operational Excellence: Drive strategy for platform reliability, performance, and automation, championing initiatives for system resilience, operational efficiency, and observability.

How you will stand out:

• Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience in data engineering or software development, with at least 3 years in a principal architect or technical leadership role managing a team.
• Architectural Expertise: Proven track record of designing, building, and operating large-scale, distributed data platforms in a cloud environment (AWS).
• Technical Proficiency:
• Expert-level knowledge of big data processing frameworks like Apache Spark and real-time streaming technologies such as Apache Flink and Kafka.
• Deep expertise with modern data warehousing and lakehouse architectures (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, ClickHouse).
• Strong command of at least one programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java.
• Experience with workflow orchestration tools like Apache Airflow.
• Familiarity with data visualization and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Tableau, or Looker.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, and inspire technical teams. Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
