Job Summary

Survitec is seeking a skilled and dedicated Marine Fire Safety Service Technician to join our growing team in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair and certification of marine fire safety equipment both in our workshop and on-board vessel, ensuring compliance with relevant local and international regulations and industry standards. This role requires a strong understanding of fire safety systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to safety within the unique operational context of International's maritime industry.

Duties and responsibilities

Inspection and Maintenance

• Conduct thorough inspections of marine fire safety equipment, including fire extinguishers, fixed firefighting systems (CO2, foam, water mist, DCP System), fire detection and alarm systems, breathing apparatus, and lifeboats, adhering to the relevant international regulations and standards.
• Conducts regular inspections and maintenance on life rafts and launching systems. Tests and repairs lifeboat engines, hoisting mechanisms, and essential systems and ensure all equipment is operational and ready for deployment.
• Perform routine maintenance, testing, and servicing of fire safety equipment according to manufacturer specifications and regulatory requirements (SOLAS, IMO, MPA, FLAG regulations).
• Identify and rectify faults, malfunctions, and deficiencies in fire safety systems, considering the intense usage and environmental conditions.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance, repairs, and certifications, ensuring compliance with local / international documentation requirements.

Repair and Installation / Certification and Compliance

• Repair or replace damaged or faulty fire safety equipment components.
• Calibrate and test fire detection and alarm systems.
• Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with relevant international, national and Survitec's standards.
• Maintains and prepares accurate and up-to-date records of service report, time sheet and issuance of final certificate upon work completion as necessary. Ensure proper documentation for audits and compliance with maritime safety regulations.

Customer Service

• Provide excellent customer service to vessel owners and operators.
• Explain technical information clearly and concisely, considering the diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds of clients.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries and service requests, understanding the time-sensitive nature of operations in local and oversea ports and shipyards.

Safety

• Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures in workshop,shipyards and offshore environments.
• Ensure all activities are in line with Survitec's policies and procedures and obtains authorization from a supervisor or manager for any exceptions from mandatory procedure.
• Conduct risk assessments before performing any work, adhering to Singapore's Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) and Survitec's Quality Health Safety and Health (QHSE) regulations.
• Work in confined spaces and work at height as needed, with relevant certifications.

Qualifications / Skill

• Minimum 2 years of experience in marine fire safety service or a related maritime field.
• Technical diploma or certification in fire safety, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline.
• Fresh graduates with relevant technical diplomas/certifications and no prior experience are welcome.
• Relevant certifications or training in Life-Saving Appliances (LSA)/Fire-Fighting Appliances (FFA) maintenance and inspection preferred.
• Experience in Lifeboat servicing will have added advantage.
• Strong technical skills with hands-on experience in the installation, maintenance, and repair of life rafts, lifeboats, fire extinguishers, and related equipment.
• Able to work in challenging conditions, including offshore locations
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and compliance with safety standards and procedures.

Physically fit to work in confined spaces and demanding environments.

• Able and willing to work on weekends and public holidays
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of local WSH regulations.
