Roles & Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

1. Kitchen Operations

  • Assist in placing orders for food and ingredients.
  • Receive and store food supplies in both kitchens.
  • Prepare ingredients prior to practical lessons.
  • Mop and clean kitchen floors daily to remove oily/greasy stains.
  • Set up and sort kitchen equipment and utensils.
  • Maintain perishable food supplies and monitor items with expiry dates.
  • Clean refrigerators in both kitchens periodically.
  • Wash, dry, and store kitchen equipment and utensils used for lesson demonstrations.
  • Stow away crockery and utensils after drying.
  • Clean sinks, window ledges, storage shelves, and cupboards periodically.
  • Tidy kitchen floors, sinks, and centre tables after each practical lesson.
  • Machine wash, dry, fold, and neatly store dishcloths and tea towels.
  • Perform final checks to ensure safety valves are switched to neutral positions at day's end.
  • Maintain neat arrangement of utensils in shelves, cupboards, cabinets, and drawers.

2. Stock Management

  • Replace broken glassware from stock and ensure accountability for all equipment used in Food & Consumer Education (FCE) / Food & Nutrition Science (NFS) lessons.
  • Maintain a stock-book and breakage record for item replacement.
  • Prepare an annual inventory stock list for the stock-take exercise.

3. Operations Support

  • Clean special rooms, cabinets, cupboards, shelves, instruments, and equipment as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • Assist in moving resources, tables, chairs, and other logistics as required.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Administration Manager or School Leaders.

Requirements:

  • Able to read and converse in simple English (equivalent to Primary 6 level).
  • Minimum 1 year of work experience as a Kitchen Helper, School Cleaner, Hawker's Assistant, or equivalent.

Contract Details:

  • Duration: 1-year contract (1 Jan 2026 – 31 Dec 2026), with option to extend for another year.
  • Working Hours: Mondays to Fridays, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm (inclusive of 1-hour lunch break).
  • No work required on Saturdays, Sundays, and gazetted public holidays (these days are still paid).

No work required during scheduled school holidays:

  • March: 7 calendar days
  • May/June: 30 calendar days
  • September: 7 calendar days
  • November/December: 61 calendar days
