The USS IEO is a national platform established to drive Innovation & Enterprise (I&E) efforts for the USS domain. Housed within A*STAR's Innovation & Enterprise Group, the Office collaborates with stakeholders such as NRF, MND agencies, MSE agencies, economic agencies, A*STAR research institutions (RIs), Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), and companies to generate value for Singapore through new products, services, increased revenue, and job creation.

The Senior Manager / Assistant Director for USS IEO will:

  1. Develop an understanding of national priorities, market demands, and industry needs for key sectors under the USS domain, aligned with national strategies like Industry Transformation Maps.
  2. Collaborate with public research performers (IHLs and A*STAR RIs) possessing relevant competencies to address industry and national needs within the USS domain.
  3. Leverage I&E resources and initiatives (e.g., funding, test-bedding, deployment opportunities) across agencies to promote science and technology development and translation efforts in the USS domain.
  4. Identify challenges hindering science and technology development and translation, and escalate issues to relevant authorities when necessary.
  5. Contribute to sharing networks and experiences to strengthen WOG's I&E capabilities and Singapore's innovation ecosystem, focusing on industrial development and technology commercialization.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

________________________________________

  • At least 7 years (preferably 10 years) of experience in technology-business roles within Agri, Aquaculture, or Resource Circularity sectors (e.g., valorisation, RAS), in either private or public entities, with industry connections.
  • Ability to identify business needs and stakeholder challenges to create deployment opportunities.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and companies by understanding their needs.
  • Passion for influencing, collaborating, and transforming start-ups and SMEs.
  • Effective communication, presentation, and influencing skills across organizational levels.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Excellent organizational and administrative skills.
  • Willingness, adaptability, and flexibility to undertake additional tasks supporting beyond the core role.
  • Self-motivated, innovative, and proactive problem solver prepared to handle unexpected situations.
