Tenure TrackAssistant Professor in Single Molecule Biology

The School of Biological Sciences(SBS) and the Institute for Digital Molecular Analytics and Science(IDMxS) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singaporejointly invite applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorposition in Single Molecule Biology. We welcome applicants whoseresearch intersects with (but is not limited to) biophysics,advanced imaging, and/or biochemistry. The successful candidatewill join the vibrant School of Biological Sciences, whichemphasizes fundamental and applied biology, and in association withthe interdisciplinary research center IDMxS, which focuses oncutting-edge technology development for studying complex lifescience. The appointee will contribute to our expanding focus onunderstanding biomolecular dynamics, assembly, organization, andreactions in biological processes, as well as quantitativesingle-molecule detection. Furthermore, he or she is also expectedto show a strong commitment to departmental undergraduate andgraduate mentoring and teaching.

SBS and IDMxSencompass a broad range of research areas-including cell biology,physical biology, structural biology, biochemistry, chemicalbiology, bioelectronics, molecular spectroscopy, and artificialintelligence for biomolecular function-thereby fostering numerousopportunities for interdisciplinary collaborations both within SBSand IDMxS and across the University.

SBS andIDMxS boasts cutting-edge infrastructure to support advanced celland molecular imaging, with systems such as Airscan2, STED-FLIM,SDC-TIRF/Laser-ablation/FRAP, lattice-SIM, and cryo-EM/ET. We alsooffer comprehensive molecular structural analysis capabilities,including mass photometry, SEC-MALS, NMR, and a full suite ofproteomics equipment. Qualifications andrequirements:
  • The candidatesshould have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant field (Biophysics,biochemistry, molecular biology, or a related discipline) withpostdoctoral or other professional experiences in closely relatedresearch fields, preferably in single moleculebiology.
  • The candidates should havedemonstrated in-depth knowledge, training, and extensive hands-onexperience in single molecule techniques, including, but notlimited to biomolecular engineering, biological sample preparation,data acquisition, calibration, quantitative dataanalysis.
  • Competitive applicants shoulddemonstrate significant research experience in single moleculebiology with a strong track record of research productivity andinterdisciplinary collaborative research.
  • Thecandidates are expected to have adept collaboration and to bewilling to work synergistically and establish collaboration withSBS and/or IDMxS colleagues, as well as to collaborate with otherresearchers within and outside theinstitution.
  • In addition to developinginternationally recognized research, excellent teaching ability isalso expected of the successful candidate. The candidate isexpected to teach both general and advanced undergraduate courses,as well as graduate courses in biology. Experience in mentoringgraduate students and supervising research projects is highlyvalued.
