Aquarist – Herpetologist

Job Responsibilities:

· Manage the health and well-being of amphibians, ensuring proper diet, habitat conditions, and medical care.

· Design and maintain habitats that replicate natural aquatic and semi-aquatic environments to a world class standard.

· Monitor the behavior, growth, and breeding of species, including amphibians that are vulnerable or endangered.

· Provide training and guidance to other team members in animal care, handling, and behavioral observation techniques.

· Ensure appropriate setup and maintenance of terrariums, aquatic tanks, and vivariums.

· Monitor environmental parameters for species that require specific conditions.

Job Requirements:

· Diploma or degree in Zoology, Biology, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a focus on herpetology.

· Proven experience in herpetology, particularly in an aquatic environment. Experience in animal husbandry, particularly with reptiles and amphibians, is preferred.

· Strong knowledge of herpetological species, particularly those found in aquatic and semi-aquatic environments.

· Excellent observational and problem-solving skills.

· Animal husbandry knowledge and passion to work with animals.

· Confident to work in an aquatic environment.

· Ability to work in a team and independently.

· Able to perform shift work, including on weekends and public holidays.
