We govern, structure, negotiate and execute the largest and most complex deals globally, across all asset classes.

Compliance

You will gate-keep and extend material regulatory, compliance, reputational risks and incidents to the GIC Board and senior management. You will help to monitor the constantly evolving regulatory landscape to advise our stakeholders of the potential implications and to implement the requisite controls. You will also promote and reinforce staff awareness of the applicable regulatory and compliance policies and procedures.

We are looking for a highly motivated, high caliber candidate to join our Financial Crime Compliance team as an Assistant Vice President.

What will you do as an AVP, Financial Crime Compliance?

  • Advise stakeholders on the application of GIC’s Financial Crime Compliance (“FCC”) Framework, which covers anti-bribery and corruption, AML/CFT and sanctions compliance, and pre-empt, identify and escape risk and control issues/gaps and propose robust and pragmatic solutions to address them.
  • Conduct periodic reviews and enhancements of FCC policy and processes and consultation with stakeholders, and present proposed policy changes to GIC’s Group Executive Committee and/or Group Risk Committee.
  • Monitor global developments in FCC laws and regulations, in particular, sanctions regimes administered by the UN and other major jurisdictions (e.g. US, UK, EU and China).
  • Translate applicable FCC laws and regulations and sanctions regimes into practical guidance on how they apply to and impact GIC’s investment and operational activities, and how the corresponding policies and controls should be implemented.
  • Represent Compliance on GIC’s Reputational Risk Working Group and Negative Screening Working Group, and advise on the applicable reputational, regulatory and compliance issues that are highlighted to these fora.
  • Design and deliver FCC training for stakeholders, including face-to-face sessions and eLearning modules for selected topics.

Controls Implementation

  • Review and process FCC due diligence requests submitted by stakeholders, including assessing identified red flags and any mitigating controls to be put in place.
  • Perform ongoing FCC screening and monitoring, including the review and disposition of alerts generated by the name screening tool.
  • Manage the conduct management process where any potential FCC policy violations are identified.
  • Proactively identify and assess any potential gaps or enhancements in controls implementation, e.g., system and/or process related, and prioritize them for delivery.
  • Actively participate in FCC system enhancement projects across their lifecycle, including but not limited to defining business requirements, supporting design decisions, and conducting user acceptance testing.
  • Support FCC integration projects, working with Technology teams and other stakeholders so that screening, monitoring and due diligence capabilities are properly connected to GIC’s wider systems and data flows.
  • Act as Compliance subject matter expert on cross-department and change initiatives, ensuring that FCC and other Compliance requirements are identified early and designed in.

Other Responsibilities

  • Support the Compliance Division by providing advice on other general Compliance policies beyond FCC, including conflicts of interest, gifts & entertainment, external appointments/activities and record retention.
  • Review staff declarations and perform monitoring on conflicts of interest, gift & entertainment, external appointments and other Compliance topics.

What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?

  • Preferably 6 to 10 years’ experience in Compliance and in reviewing/interpreting laws and regulations, with majority of the experience in the FCC function.
  • Strong working knowledge of financial products, securities trading in public markets and/or investments in private markets.
