Job Purpose
Technical Officer (TO) works in a team to perform preventive and corrective maintenance of railway signaling and communications systems to improve its reliability. TO assists in the preparation of maintenance activities and is technically inclined and adept in handling electronics and computer-based systems and equipment for maintenance.
TO also supervises the works of contractors and external stakeholders to ensure adherence to operating requirements, quality standards and safety standards. O can communicate effectively within the team and able to multi-task and can prioritize assigned maintenance workload in supporting maintenance activities.
Duties & Responsibilities
1. Work in any of SMRT depots, tracks, and facilities, as assigned by supervisors.
2. Work in rotating or fixed shifts (i.a.w. MOM guidelines), as assigned by supervisors.
3. Perform Preventive and Corrective on railway infrastructure assets, as assigned by supervisors. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company).
4. Operate equipment, locomotives and/or specialized track maintenance vehicles within depot and mainline tracks, as assigned by supervisors. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company).
5. Ensure the railway infrastructure system defects are identified, classified, and mitigated/rectified promptly.
6. Ensure that railway infrastructure defects are recorded and reported accurately in accordance with the maintenance procedures or OEM technical manual.
7. Ensure all works are done in a safe manner in accordance with the organisational procedures or OEM technical manual.
8. Ensure that the railway infrastructure system defects and maintenance records are properly documented and updated in the Maintenance Tracking System.
9. Assist supervisor to conduct training as required.
10. Perform Possession Master (PM) / Person-In-Charge (PIC) / ground shunter duty, as assigned by supervisors. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company).
11. Operate company forklift and/or aerial work platform, as assigned by supervisors. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company).
12. Drive company vehicle for the purpose of work. (For holders of Singapore Driving Licence. Familiarisation and authorisation will be provided by company).
13. Observe and report any safety concerns at the workplace.
14. Undertake any other tasks or functions that are supplementary to the performance of the works, as assigned by supervisor. (Training and qualifications will be provided by company, as required). Examples include (but not limited to):
a. Responding to emergency operations
b. Assist in the execution of projects including testing & commissioning, attendance to contractors, etc
c. Supervise contractors' work
d. Preparation of reports
e. Provide logistics support
f. Housekeeping
Physical Requirement
1. Able to work on a Shift Roster system in accordance with the MOM guidelines and Collective Agreement.
2. Able to work in harsh environment with present of dust, oil, grease etc.
3. Able to work at height.
4. Able to climb staircase ladders, work undercarriage in limited space, squat and stand for long duration up to 4-6hours.
5. Able to lift, carry and install heavy tools/equipment up to 15kg.
Qualifications and Work Experience
1. Higher NITEC in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent
2. Preferably 2 years' experience in a maintenance environment
