Roles & Responsibilities

Description of Role: Engineer is required for transmission lines/ substations.


  • To have a good understanding of key areas in transmission line networks including:
  1. - consenting
  2. - community/stakeholder engagement
  3. - authority engagement
  4. - managing contracts
  5. - negotiations and dispute resolutions
  6. - business case and plans for new transmission line development
  • Preference for candidate to have previous experience in power transmission utility.
  • To be able to prepare preliminary concepts, specifications and documentations for substation and transmission line works.
  • To review contractor documentations and project implentation schedules/procedures.
  • To prepare and review capital cost estimates.
  • To conduct field activities: site inspections, construction monitoring, observations, measurements, prepare assessments and inspection reports.
  • To manage transmission project deliverables and schedule within a multi-discipline design or consulting project (substation and transmission line).
  • To manage delivery, resourcing and financial aspects of projects for the Energy and Power business unit.


Requirements of the incumbent:

  • Masters Degree in Engineering with minimum 3 years experience in overhead transmission networks.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to translate this verbally and in written reports.
  • Delivers all aspects of projects within budget.
  • Ability to assist in development of engineering service proposals and fee estimates.
  • To work collabaratively with others.
  • Experience in development of business cases and development reports.
