Youngand research intensive, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore(NTU Singapore) is ranked among the world's topuniversities.

The Ngiam Family VisitingProfessorship, established in 2024, seeks to attract outstandingscholars/professors of Chinese Studies/Studies of China to pursueand develop advanced research at the College of Humanities, Arts,and Social Sciences (CoHASS), NTU Singapore. Each year the researchfocus will change to ensure that NTU maintains sustained globalengagement with a wide range of cutting-edge projects relating toChina.

The Ngiam Family Professorship issupported by a generous endowment from Mr Ngiam Tong Yuen and hisfamily.

Visiting Full Professor inChinese Studies/Studies ofChina

Though this is an open call,some suggested areas of specialisation mightinclude:

  • Chineseculture, heritage and digitalhumanities
  • The economy ofChina
  • Media landscapes inChina
  • Chinese diaspora inSoutheast Asia, including migration patterns, art, and any researchrelating to overseas Chinesepeople
  • Design, art andcreativity


Thesuccessful applicant will also be expected to teach where possibleand advise/mentor junior faculty. The proposed visiting period forthis engagement is 2months.
