Roles & Responsibilities

Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager to lead our clients Tax Department with a focus on the APAC region. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of tax regulations and practices across multiple APAC countries. This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate complex tax environments, provide guidance to cross-functional teams, and drive compliance initiatives effectively.

Responsibilities:

  1. Tax Strategy Development: Develop and implement tax strategies tailored to the unique regulatory environments of APAC countries. Collaborate with senior leadership to align tax objectives with overall business goals.
  2. Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and reporting requirements in APAC countries. Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate and timely tax returns, ensuring adherence to local laws and regulations.
  3. Tax Planning and Optimization: Identify opportunities for tax planning and optimization across the APAC region. Proactively analyze tax implications of business decisions and provide strategic recommendations to minimize tax liabilities.
  4. Transfer Pricing: Lead transfer pricing initiatives, including documentation, analysis, and compliance across APAC jurisdictions. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure transfer pricing policies are aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  5. Risk Management: Assess and mitigate tax risks associated with operations in APAC countries. Develop and implement effective risk management strategies to safeguard the company's interests and maintain compliance with local tax laws.
  6. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, legal, and other departments to provide tax guidance and support for business initiatives in the APAC region. Serve as a subject matter expert on tax matters, providing training and support as needed.
  7. Tax Audits and Disputes: Manage tax audits and disputes with tax authorities in APAC countries. Represent the company in discussions with tax authorities, ensuring compliance with regulations and resolving issues efficiently.
  8. Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external tax advisors, consultants, and service providers in APAC countries. Ensure effective coordination and communication to support the company's tax objectives and initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field; CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.
  • Extensive experience (8+ years) in tax management, with a focus on APAC countries.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax laws, regulations, and practices across multiple APAC jurisdictions.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing tax strategies to optimize tax efficiency and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex tax issues and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing tax audits, disputes, and relationships with tax authorities.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading and developing a team of tax professionals.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in taxation or related field.
  • Experience working in a multinational corporation with operations in APAC countries.
  • Fluency in multiple languages spoken in the APAC region.
  • Certification or accreditation in international taxation (e.g., CTA, CFA).
