For therole of a Resident Physician, you will contribute to the Departmentof Otolaryngology in terms of clinical service and training. Youwill be immediately responsible for the total management ofpatients under the charge of thespecialists.

JobResponsibilities
  • Toperform at the same level of duties (including calls) andresponsibilities (same roster) of a Medical Officer. Theircompetence will be individually assessed by the Head of Department(HOD) and thereby given clinical duties accordingly.
  • To assist, guide and supervise the House Officers intheir duties, and review all new cases as soon as possiblefollowing admission and check on the House Officer's findings andnotes
  • To write medical reports. Urgent reportsshould be prepared within a week and non-urgent reports within twoweeks.
  • To ensure the accuracy and completionof the Hospital Inpatient Discharge Summary (HIDS) Forms and thediagnosis & disease index on the front sheet of the caserecords. In cases of difficulty, the Senior Medical Staff(Registrar and above) should be consulted.
  • Toassist the Senior Medical Staff (Registrar and above) in therunning of Specialist Outpatient Clinics, and should not make anymajor changes to the treatment regime or discharge long-termpatients from follow up without the prior approval of the SeniorMedical Staff.
  • To update relatives onpatients' conditions.
  • To explain procedures topatients and their relatives, as well as obtaining consent for suchcases, if so designated by their Senior Medical Staff.
  • To sign Death Certificates and obtain consent for autopsyof deceased patients.
  • To inform the SeniorMedical Staff of any major problems and discharges against medicaladvice. They are permitted to counsel patients who wish to bedischarged against medical advice.
  • Toparticipate in the department's teaching activities as directed bythe HOD.
  • To perform any other medical dutiesas directed by the senior medical staff in their respectivedepartments, and should be prepared to cover the duties of juniordoctors when the need arises.

Job Requirements
  • MBBS or post graduate qualification recognised bySingapore Medical Council;
  • At least 3 years'of Medical Officer experience;
  • Able to performindependently in Department;
  • Highly adaptiveand possess excellent interpersonal and communicationskills;
  • Must be able to docalls.
