The Role
The Deputy Headteacher (Academic) is recruited to work in partnership with the Head of School and Deputy Headteacher (Pastoral) to ensure the smooth day to day running of the Infant School.
The role reports to Head of School (Infant School).
Key Responsibilities
- Co-ordinate and review intent, implementation and impact of the curriculum, including ensuring continuity and progress across year groups and key stages.
- Lead and line manage Infant School Heads of Curriculum.
- Lead developments in securing consistency in Teaching and Learning across year groups in terms of implementing common expectations and systems including assessment and moderation.
- Co-ordinate the monitoring of teaching and learning and ensuring and sustaining high quality teaching and learning.
- Co-ordinate reporting and assessment of pupil attainment and progress.
- Develop and maintain a whole school environment that promotes, inspires and celebrates learning.
- Develop, create and update Infant School guidance documents and policies.
- Co-ordinate the revision of job description updates, as needed.
- Participate in TTS whole school committees to lead strategic developments in key areas, e.g. academics, CPD, The Institute and technology from 3-18.
- Develop home-school partnerships and communication systems, the curriculum aspects of the school website, e.g. workshops etc.
- Lead and manage continuous professional development across the school which reflects both the needs of the individual and the school in order to drive improvement as set out in the CPD Guidance document.
- Lead Review and Development processes across the Infant School.
- Lead Infant School Self-Evaluation, School Improvement Planning and prepare the school for inspections.
- Act as a Designated Safeguarding Lead as part of the whole school Safeguarding team.
- Assume role of acting Head of School in their absence.
- Undertake any reasonable duties as determined by the Head of School.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS
A key feature of the role is that postholder should develop and sustain constructive relationships with all stakeholders. There will be particular emphasis on the following:
- Work in partnership with the Head of School.
- Work closely with Heads of Curriculum on curriculum development.
- Work with Heads of Year, Assistant Heads of Year, Learning Support, Enhanced Provision, Heads of Curriculum and Heads of Data & Assessment to promote consistently high quality teaching and learning within and across year groups.
- Liaise with Junior and Senior Deputy (Academic) to ensure continuity and progress across key stages.
- Support and develop Project Point Holders as appropriate.
