Roles & Responsibilities

The upcoming Eastern General Hospital (EGH) aims to provide excellent healthcare and promote healing centred around each person. In this role, the incumbent will be supporting Head, Laboratory Medicine in various aspects of department management, including financial planning, manpower planning, human resource management, information systems planning, laboratory safety, quality assurance, and external communications. The incumbent is also responsible for the efficient organisation and operations of the department and its various sections. The incumbent will interpret, implement and maintain hospital guidelines, quality compliance, regulatory and safety requirements, and will work with Head, Laboratory Medicine to establish standard operating procedures, work instructions and in developing departmental goals and performance indicators. The incumbent will also work closely with Allied Health Lead to support staff engagement and professional development of the Medical Laboratory Technologists in the Laboratory.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Applied Science or Microbiology and Biochemistry
  • Minimum 8 years of related work experience, with at least 2 years in local hospital operations
  • Strong understanding of both administrative and laboratory-specific functions
  • Ability to manage a high performing team
  • Team player with excellent planning, analytical and communication skills
  • Possess critical thinking skills and willing to innovate
  • Able to engage various stakeholders in a dynamic environment and a growing organisation
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to challenging conditions
  • Action-oriented, highly motivated and target-focused
