JobDescription:

The LaboratoryOfficer will be responsible for managing day-to-day operationswithin the electrochemical lab and providing essential support toongoing projects. The role requires a good level of technicalproficiency in electrochemical techniques, excellent organizationalskills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The LaboratoryOfficer will work closely with the project teams to ensure smoothand safe functioning of the lab and timely completion of tasks. Keyresponsibilities include:

Lab Management:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations ofthe electrochemical lab, including equipment maintenance, inventorymanagement, and safety protocols.
  • Ensure thatthe lab is well-equipped and stocked with necessary materials andsupplies for ongoing experiments and projects.
  • Coordinate with vendors for procurement ofequipment/chemicals and supplies as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment inaccordance with laboratory standards andregulations.

Experimental Support:
  • Assist researchers and project teamswith experimental setup, data collection, and analysis.
  • Characterizations of surfaces and coatings in terms ofmechanical, physical and chemical properties, as well as coatingperformance evaluation.
  • Troubleshoot technicalissues and provide guidance on experimental procedures asrequired.
  • Conduct routine calibration andmaintenance of electrochemical equipment to ensure accuracy andreliability of results.
  • Document experimentalprocedures, results, and observations in detailed labreports.

Project Support:
  • Collaborate with project teams tosupport the execution of research projects related toelectrochemical applications.
  • Manage projecttimelines and deliverables to ensure that milestones are met in atimely manner.
  • Communicate regularly withproject stakeholders to provide updates on progress and address anyconcerns or challenges that arise.

Training and Development:
  • Providetraining and guidance to new lab members on proper laboratorytechniques, safety procedures, and equipment operation.
  • Stay informed about advancements in electrochemicaltechnology and techniques through literature review andprofessional development activities.
  • Shareknowledge and best practices with other members of the researchteam to enhance overall productivity andefficiency.

JobRequirements:
  • Diplomaor equivalent qualification in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering,Materials Science, or a related science and engineeringfield.
  • Proven experience working in alaboratory setting, preferably with a focus onelectrochemistry.
  • Strong understanding ofelectrochemical principles and techniques, including cyclicvoltammetry, impedance spectroscopy, andpotentiostatic/galvanostatic measurements.
  • Proficiency in operating and troubleshootingelectrochemical equipment such as potentiostats, electrochemicalcells, and electrodes.
  • Excellentorganizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability tomanage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritizeeffectively.
  • Strong communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in ateam environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining asafe and compliant laboratory environment, with knowledge ofrelevant safety regulations and procedures.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements andpriorities, with a proactive approach toproblem-solving.
  • Ability to work independentlywith minimal supervision, while also contributing effectively to adynamic research team.
