A Project Officer position is currently available in theEarth Observatory of Singapore (EOS).

TheClimate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire andaccelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders toestablish the stable climate and environment necessary forresilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asiansocieties.

CTP will generate knowledge andinnovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science,ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities,social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. Itwill also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into realworld solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutionsto Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.

As part ofthis programme, the Community Engagement office of the EarthObservatory of Singapore will work across the different researchclusters and cross cutting themes to promote the programme and workwith communities so they can benefit from its findings andactivities.

The Project Officer (Communicationsand Engagement, Climate Transformation Programme) will be based atthe Earth Observatory of Singapore at Nanyang TechnologicalUniversity, Singapore. The incumbent will be part of the EOSCommunity Engagement office and will work closely with researchersof the CTP.

The Project Officer will createcontent that engages a broad audience about the research andactivities conducted by the CTP, and will communicate the findingsand impacts with a range of stakeholders. The incumbent will alsohelp develop and coordinate engagement opportunities that educatestakeholders of the programme about climate change, inspireactions, and contribute to building a community of problem solversto address climate change. Finally, he/she/they will collectappropriate data to evaluate these differentactivities.

The position will be key to helpbuild trust with the internal and external stakeholders of theprogramme, and to ensure the climate solutions developed by the CTPbenefit a range of stakeholders.

KeyResponsibilities:
  • Work withcross-functional teams to gather updates and content about theprogramme, and curate content for various communications andengagement initiatives.
  • Craft content, such aslong-form stories and content for social media, about theactivities and research findings of the programme, in collaborationwith the CTP researchers and under the guidance of the EOSCommunity Engagement Office.
  • Create targetedproducts that communicate results of the programme to relevantstakeholders, including government agencies and the general public,under the supervision of RO.
  • Develop andsupport engagement initiatives associated with the CTP, includingmeetings and activities conducted with the differentstakeholders.
  • Participate in and contribute tointernal meetings to promote inter-disciplinary research andexchange of information.
  • Participate in variouspublic engagement activities, working closely with the EOSCommunity Engagement Office, to promote the researchprogramme.
  • Provide research support as needed,such as background literaturereview.


JobRequirements:
  • Bachelor'sdegree in Journalism, Communications or related field withexperience in communicating about Earth and/or Climate sciences, OrBachelor's degree in Earth Sciences or Environmental Studies withexperience in sciencecommunications.
  • Passionate about climateeducation and about accelerating solutions for climate resilienceand sustainable societies.
  • Experience withcommunicating science to non-technicalaudiences.
  • Excellent written and verbal Englishcommunications skills.
  • Self-driven and highlymotivated to seek and pursue opportunities that help achieveprogramme KPIs.
  • Experience with working withcross-functional teams and interested to work with researchers andscience communicators to develop and produce high-quality andimpactful content and initiatives.
  • Wellorganised with experience in projectmanagement.
  • Preferably with experience workingwith Singapore government agencies, corporate partners, communitygroups and media.
  • Evidence of being able towork both independently and collaboratively, with a strong teamspirit.
