Job Overview:

Gallop Stable is seeking a skilled and experienced Horse Farrier to provide expert hoof care for our horses. The farrier will be responsible for trimming, shoeing, and maintaining the overall hoof health of our equine partners, ensuring their comfort and performance in various activities, including equine-assisted therapy and riding sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trim and shape hooves to promote proper balance and movement.
  • Fit, apply, and adjust horseshoes as needed.
  • Assess and address any hoof-related issues such as cracks, infections, or lameness.
  • Collaborate with veterinarians and stable management on hoof care plans.
  • Monitor and maintain a regular hoof care schedule for all horses.
  • Provide recommendations on hoof care and maintenance to stable staff.
  • Ensure all work is carried out safely, considering the well-being of the horses and handlers.
Requirements:
  • Proven experience as a horse farrier.
  • Knowledge of various shoeing techniques and corrective hoof care.
  • Ability to handle and work with horses of different temperaments.
  • Strong physical fitness and stamina.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Certification in farriery (preferred but not mandatory).
