Role Overview:
As a Research Scientist at RIT Singapore, you will contribute to the development of large language and multimodal models, using current and novel architectures. You will contribute to training, post-training, alignment, evaluations and inference aspects of these models. The role involves collaborating with teams to deliver applied research projects in the field of foundation models.

Responsibilities Include One or More of Following Tracks**:

  • Own and pursue, long-term applied research goals in LLM/ LMM field.
  • Track 1: Research and advance LLM/LMM efforts with novel LLM architectures like Mixture of Experts, State Space Models and techniques like Knowledge Distillation, Synthetic Data Generation etc.
  • Track 2: Research and advance Reinforcement Learning based Post Training.
  • Track 3: Evaluate and benchmark LLM/LMM performance on automatic metrics and real-world business scenarios.
  • Maintain thought leadership by staying up to date on industry and academic trends and publishing in top-tier venues.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • PhD or Masters' in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related technical field.
  • Experience in distributed deep-learning.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python or C/C++, with experience in deep learning libraries and platforms (e.g., PyTorch, Transformers, JAX).
  • Proven ability to innovate and deliver results at a large scale in both research and applied contexts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with Japanese language is a plus.
  • Thoughtful about AI impacts, ethics, and responsible AI practices.
  • Strong publication record in top AI venues like NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL, EMNLP, CVPR, ECCV, and ICCV.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with a track record of addressing novel challenges.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to drive collaboration across technical and business teams.
