Orthoptist

Major Duties and Responsibilities

1. The Orthoptist is expected to maintain consistent competency in area of expertise
2. Demonstrate professional and legal accountability for all aspect of work within the domain
3. Provide clinical assessment, analysis and provision of clinical diagnosis autonomously for individual patients to determine their need for orthoptic intervention within the specialist area
4. The Orthoptist is expected to provide professional expertise in the following:

• Diagnosis and management of binocular vision disorder
• Diagnosis and non-surgical management of squint - strabismus (cross-eyed), ambloyopia (lazy eye), and other eye movement disorders
• Measurement of the angle of squint pre-operatively and post-operatively
• Provide professional orthoptic treatment such as the use of eye patches, eye exercises, prisms or glasses
• Assessment of both paediatric and adult patients with neurological conditions such as stroke, brain tumours or multiple sclerosis
• Proficiency in carrying out ophthalmic investigations such as Refraction, Colour Vision Assessment, Visual Field, Retinography and etc

5. The Orthoptist is expected to adhere to the company’s professional standards and to maintain an effective line of communication with the Eye Specialists, fellow allied health and medical professionals, the patients and their assigned care givers

Requirement

• Holders of Bachelor of Orthoptics / Bachelor of Orthoptics and Ophthalmic Sciences
• Preferably with 2 years' experience in Orthoptic related field
• Candidates without experience but with relevant certificate are welcome to apply
