Overview

The Natural Sciences and Science Education(NSSE) at the National Institute of Education in Singapore iscommitted to discovery and innovation in science and scienceeducation. Comprising faculty from both science content andpedagogical disciplines, we adopt an inter-disciplinary approach toteaching and research. Research by biologists, chemists andphysicists in NSSE is centred on many areas of current cutting-edgescience, both basic and applied. Our science educationists focusmainly on maximising the potential of every child through researchon students' learning approaches and problem-solving skills, andwork with teachers to develop models of creative teaching and newapproaches to learning. Faculty members can apply and receiveresearch support through internal and external grants, as well asaccess to world-class research facilities.

TheNSSE invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor upto Associate Professor (with tenure) position in Chemistry. Theposition is available from January 2025onwards.

Requirements
  • A first degree in Chemistryand a PhD in Chemistry, e.g. analytical chemistry or physicalchemistry
  • Be able to teach undergraduate andpostgraduate Chemistry courses in English
  • Goodtrack record of publication in top-tier, peer-reviewedinternational journals and/or highly citedpublications
  • Post-doctoral research experienceand prior teaching experience at undergraduate/graduate level aredesirable for Assistant Professor position and are must forAssociate Professorposition

Responsibilities

Successfulcandidates will be expected to:
  • Teachboth undergraduate and graduate courses in Chemistry, includinganalytical Chemistry and physicalchemistry
  • Supervise undergraduate final yearprojects and MSc/PhD students
  • Participate incommittees in the Department/Institute/University and coursecoordination
  • Develop strong research programmesin the areas of their interest and to publish in top-tier,peer-reviewed internationaljournals.
