Role Summary:

The Business Development Manager plays a pivotal role in spearheading sales initiatives within a specified geographic area. This position is centered on generating new business, securing new clients for the company, leading client engagements, developing existing customer relationships, crafting customer quotes and proposals, boosting the company's revenue, sales volume, and profitability. Furthermore, the role involves implementing business growth strategies, contributing to the development of sales plans, strategies, and tactics in collaboration with the management team.



Core Responsibilities:

  • Proactively seek out, secure, and onboard new clients and business opportunities.
  • Spearhead the development and expansion of relationships with allocated clients within the region.
  • Sustain strong and positive relationships with all designated clients.
  • Formulate and present customer quotations and proposals.
  • Achieve or surpass targets related to increasing the company’s revenue, sales volume, and profitability.
  • Implement strategies and tactics for business development.
  • Support the management and leadership teams in crafting sales plans, tactics, and strategies as needed.
  • Liaise with local and regional product teams (including Air, Ocean, and other services) to ensure competitive rates for customer proposals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of managed clients, identifying and executing necessary actions for improvement.
  • Facilitate the regional or global expansion of assigned accounts if needed.


Additional Duties:

  • Collaborate with leadership and relevant stakeholders to roll out new and ongoing sales initiatives.
  • Participate in tenders, RFQs, and bids as required.
  • Maintain positive relationships with internal stakeholders across various departments including Technology, Product, Customer Service, and Operations.
  • Offer suggestions for process enhancements and partake in the implementation of these improvements.
  • Manage additional tasks as assigned by immediate supervisors.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
  • Additional certification in Logistics and/or Supply Chain is preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in customer-facing roles within freight forwarding, shipping, air cargo, logistics, supply chain, or similar sectors, focusing on business development, sales, or commercial activities.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of freight forwarding/logistics operations and the sales process.
  • Demonstrated ability to retain customers and manage customer interactions effectively.
  • Proven track record in executing successful sales and business development strategies.
  • Self-motivated, independent, with the capability to multitask and thrive in a startup atmosphere.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, with a commitment to accountability, learning, and integrity.
  • Strong consultative sales and negotiation skills.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Agile and adaptable to a fast-evolving business landscape.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels, including executive leadership.
  • Skilled in managing the diverse needs of multiple stakeholders.
  • Disciplined self-starter, able to work autonomously and/or remotely.
  • Effective team player with a positive attitude.
