Centre for Lifelong Learning and IndividualisedCognition CLIC is a research collaboration between theUniversity of Cambridge and Nanyang Technological University (NTU)and hosted by the Cambridge Centre for Advanced Research andEducation in Singapore (CARES) that aims to developneuroscience-based interventions for lifelong flexible learning.Launched in October 2020 and funded by the National ResearchFoundation Singapore, CLIC brings together a multidisciplinary teamof psychologists, neuroscientists, linguists and educators whoconduct innovative research in the science oflearning.

KeyResponsibilities:
  • To supportCLIC Directors Prof Zoe Kourtzi (University of Cambridge) and ProfAnnabel Chen (Nanyang Technological University) in providingleadership and day-to-day management of all CLIC researchactivities.
  • To supervise and coordinate allCLIC programme staff (senior research fellow, research fellows,research associates, assistants and administrative staff) employedin Singapore.
  • To facilitate co-ordination andcommunication between PIs from the University of Cambridge (UK) andNanyang Technological University(Singapore).
  • To facilitate efficient workintegration across the different individual workpackages.
  • To contribute scientific leadershipon the CLIC programme of research, with a particular focus on theneuroscience of learning across the lifespan. Subject to theapproval of the funder, it is anticipated that the post holderwould be part of the principal investigator team forCLIC.
  • To provide oversight of required academicinputs to funder reporting and grant terms compliance processes toensure high-quality, programmatically synergetic communicationswith funder and funder advisory committees.
  • Tobe responsible for ensuring the programme's ethics and governanceresponsibilities are properly fulfilled.
  • Topromote CLIC research activities within Singapore andinternationally, with a view to widening the international researchimpact.
  • Communicate material of a specialist orhighly technical nature to a wide range of scientific andnon-scientific stakeholders.
  • Develop links withexternal contacts such as other educational and research bodies andSingapore government ministries, agencies and otherstakeholders.
  • Preparation of proposals andapplications to external bodies, e.g., for funding and contractualpurposes to continue, further support and/or progress the researchgoals of the CLIC programme.
  • To conductindividual and collaborative research projects within the scope ofthe CLIC programme and write up for presentation andpublication.
  • Develop links with externalcontacts such as other educational and research bodies andSingapore government ministries, agencies and otherstakeholders.
  • To originate and develop externalnetworks, for example to identify sources of funding, or buildrelationships for future activities.
  • Manage theuse of research resources and ensure that effective use if made ofthem, manage/monitor researchbudgets.


JobRequirements:
  • PhD degreespecialising either in experimental psychology, behavioraleconomics, social psychology, cognitive psychology,neuropsychology, neuroscience (basic, cognitive or computational),organizational behavior, linguistics, education orbiopsychology.
  • Expertise in the science oflearning, with a particular focus on cognitive neuroscience methodsand mechanisms of learning in youngpeople
  • Experience of data management andanalysis, with great attention to detail and excellent recordkeeping.

  • Experience of experimental design,data quality control, data processing, statistical analysis, andintegration and visualization of data from multipleplatforms.
  • Strong abilities in strategicthinking and planning; the ability to guide and harmonise severalprogrammes of work and oversee and coordinate multiple teams andmanagement arrangements.
  • Ability to work bothin a team and pro-actively, using own initiative to prioritise andmanage own workload, to work under pressure and meet tightdeadlines and maintain confidentiality.
  • Haveexcellent IT skills and data analysisexperience.
  • Flexibility, good time managementand ability to prioritise a diverse and changingworkload.
  • Must be experienced in conductingindividual and collaborative researchprojects.
  • Enthusiastic to undertake managementand administrative duties and have a track record of securingresearch funding.
  • Proven ability to lead andinspire a team and work with vision andforesight.
  • The ability to support staffindividual and team growth, and in doing so promoting a productiveand supportive culture.
  • Possess sufficientadministrative skills to manage projects including financialmanagement.
  • Ability and willingness to belocated in Singapore.
  • Extensive priorexperience and deep knowledge of the Singapore researchenvironment, in particular, experience with setting up localresearch infrastructure, conducting human psychological research,and liaising with local researchentities
