- Food Preparation Oversight: Monitor and direct food preparation processes to ensure consistency and quality.
Assist in menu planning and development.
Ensure dishes meet established standards before serving. - Staff Management: Supervise and train kitchen staff during shifts.
Assign tasks and delegate responsibilities to kitchen team members.
Address any staff issues and maintain a positive working environment. - Inventory Control: Monitor food stock levels and place orders for ingredients.
Manage inventory to minimize waste and optimize costs.
Conduct regular stock checks and ensure proper storage practices. - Hygiene and Safety: Enforce strict food safety and sanitation standards in the kitchen.
Ensure compliance with all food handling regulations.
Monitor kitchen cleanliness and maintain proper equipment upkeep. - Operational Support: Assist the Head Chef in managing daily kitchen operations.
Cover for the Head Chef in their absence, taking on primary responsibilities.
Report any issues or concerns to the Head Chef.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of cooking techniques
- Experience in a professional kitchen environment or passion to work in kitchen environment
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene regulations
- Proficiency in inventory management
- Ability to manage a team and delegate tasks effectively
