Singapore CONNECT AND COMMUNICATE LLP Full time
Roles & Responsibilities

The Developmental Therapist will work with clients aged 18 months to young adults with diverse learning abilities. Successful applicants will receive training on the job to become ‘developmental social cognitive specialists’. We strive to bring out the best in others, by bringing out the best in us.

Who is a Developmental Therapist?

At Connect and Communicate we support kids with differences to learn differently. We do this by respecting neurodiversity and working with their weakness and harnessing their strengths. We work intimately with parents and caregivers, to help kids grow in more well-adjusted ways into their differences not out of it. We do not just manage behaviours and teach skills, we support development in more holistic and integrated ways to help kids become more related thinkers and doers. This is the role of a Developmental Therapist, to develop the functional, social, emotional, cognitive and communicative growth of a child. A developmental therapist will do this by engaging the child around his/ her interests and stretching his developmental capacities within that interaction. A developmental therapist is not merely an educational or behavioural therapist. A developmental therapist presumes competence and identifies strengths to develop development.

  1. Provide assessment and individualised family centred treatment plans for developmental delay and disorders, learning challenges, social interaction and social skills
  2. See kids both individually and in small groups
  3. Work closely with parents in sessions to better understand and support their kids
  4. Provide home and school based consultations where required
  5. Maintain all client communication and up-to-date documentation
  6. Work closely as part of a team to provide integrated, holistic care for the child
  7. Be willing to receive regular supervision and participate in clinical sharing
  8. Contribute to the organisation through shared leadership opportunities in line with individual strengths and interests

  • Recognised Degree in Psychology, Early Childhood or Special Education
  • 1-2 years’ experience preferred
  • Fresh graduates may also apply. Fluency in a local second language would be advantageous
  • Likes bright and quirky individuals who are differently abled and believes in their abilities
  • See’s working with caregivers integral to supporting development for that individual
  • Open to engage in reflective practice- think about why and how we do things
  • A keen appetite for learning and trying things in new ways
