Microsystems TechnologyDevelopment Centre (MTDC) at TL@NTU is having ISO certified III-VWafer Fabrication Line up to 100-mm diameter wafers with strongindustrial/academic experienced Technical Specialists/ Engineers/Scientists. We are a fast-paced research facility that designs,develops, and manufactures integrated chips, i.e. heterogeneoussystem in package modules, for defence and commercialapplications.

We are looking for a hands-on Etchprocess Research Associate who demonstrates a positive attitude,collaborates well in a team, and possesses strong technicalabilities along with sound problem-solvingskills.

KeyResponsibilities:
  • Developand implement new dry (plasma)/wet etch processes (ICP-RIE, RIE,ashing, wet chemical etching/cleaning etc.) of thin films (e.g.GaAs, SiC, Si, GaN, AlN, SiN, SiOx, SiON, TaN, Au, Ti, Ni, Pt andetc...) advanced opto-electronicdevices.
  • Develop and optimize etch parametersto achieve desired etch profiles, precise etch rates anduniformity, ensuring compatibility with specific applicationrequirements and project objectives.
  • Identifyand troubleshoot process issues, implementing innovative solutionsto enhance yield, performance, andreliability.
  • Utilize a range ofcharacterization techniques, including optical microscopy, FE-SEM,EDX, AFM, ellipsometry, reflectometry, andprofilometry.
  • Engage external service providerto do analytical characterizations (e.g. FIB, TEM, SIMS andetc...)
  • Analyze experimental data and provideinsights to our collaborators and teammembers.
  • Maintain detailed documentation ofprocesses, experimental setups, and results for future referenceand knowledge transfer.
  • Oversee the operationof laboratory equipment and ensure proper functioning. Work withthe equipment vendor to conduct routine maintenance,troubleshooting, and calibration of equipment to minimizedowntime.
  • Work with the University'sprocurement team to source and acquire necessary equipment.Evaluate and select vendors, ensuring equipment aligns withresearch requirements and budgetconstraints.
  • Adhere to laboratory safetyprotocols and ensure compliance with University and regulatorystandards.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinaryteams, including collaborators, researchers, scientists, andfaculties.
  • Communicate effectively with teammembers, providing updates on project progress, challenges, andsolutions.


JobRequirements:
  • Diploma inEngineering (e.g. Microelectronics, Electrical & ElectronicsEngineering, Material Engineering) with 8 years of relevanthands-on experience or Bachelor's degree in engineering (e.g.Microelectronics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering,Material Engineering) with 5 years of relevant hands-on experienceor Master's degree in engineering (e.g. Microelectronics,Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Material Engineering)with 3 years of relevant hands-onexperience.
  • Hands-on experience in asemiconductor fabrication/cleanroom environment, with a primaryemphasis on dry etch processes for materials such as Si, SiOx, SiN,Metals, GaN, GaAs, and SiC.
  • Experience in wetbench processes, particularly wet etching/cleaning, solventstripping, and lift-off techniques, isnecessary.
  • Familiarity with metrology toolsincluding optical microscopes, SEM, EDX, AFM, ellipsometry,reflectometry, and profilometry isessential.
  • Advanced knowledge and practicalapplication of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and Design ofExperiments (DOE).
  • Proficiency in data analysistools such as JMP for in-depth analysis andinterpretation.
  • Basic understanding of III-Vcompound semiconductor and/or silicon CMOS devices isrequired.
  • Strong communication skills, with theability to convey complex technical concepts clearly andconcisely.
